Timegated® Raman spectroscopy in extracellular vesicle (EV) research and production for quick and non-destructive insights into molecular compositions

Extracellular vesicles are novel candidates for therapeutic purposes in the field of biopharma. The purification process is critical for ensuring the high-quality of the final bioproduct. Challenges during purification include achieving optimal purity and yield. Time-gated Raman spectroscopy offers a convenient solution by providing real-time information during the separation process, thereby speeding up monitoring and reducing the need for extensive analysis.

The use of time-gated Raman in EV research and production can provide quick and non-destructive insights into molecular compositions and the quality of EVs without touching the blood bag.

Monitoring biotechnological cultures with Timegated® Raman spectrometer

The most important goal for ZHAW in working with Timegated® Technology is monitoring and analyzing biotechnological cultures. With access to Timegated® Raman spectrometer, the ZHAW team has been able to obtain accurate estimations of biotechnological cultures and the chemical composition of materials in a bioreactor.

Timegated® technology could help us in several ways to better tackle confounding factors that we have to deal with in the complex matrix of biotechnological cultures.

Advancing Pharmaceutical Research: Breakthrough in Fluorescence Challenges with Timegated® Technology

The University of Helsinki achieved significant progress in molecular studies with Timegated® Technology by conquering fluorescence interference which is a persistent issue in the pharmaceutical sector.

With time-gated Raman spectrometer, we have succeeded in detecting the Raman spectra of the fluorescent molecules and we were able to distinguish the extracellular vesicles (EVs) from different cellular origins based on their Raman spectra and principal component analyses.
